| The East Harlem Information
Outreach Project provides library and web services to not-for-profit health and social
services organizations in East Harlem (defined by zip codes 10029 and 10035). To
join the Outreach Project, click become a member.
Members should contact us to take advantage of the services. Participating organizations receive the following services:
Research Services
Includes online searching, preparation of bibliographies,
and data retrieval. A librarian will discuss your research question with you and
help you use the appropriate database(s) to retrieve pertinent information.
Free of charge.
Document Delivery
The Outreach Project will provide photocopies of journal articles, technical
reports, and other Academy-owned publications via fax or mail. Participants are
guaranteed the ability to retrieve 10 items per day from the Academy collection.
Free of charge.
Interlibrary Loan (ILL)
The Outreach Project can borrow items not owned by the Academy.
Non-rush requests (7-10 business days): Free of charge.
Rush requests (3 business days): $25-$45
Borrowing Privileges
Member organizations can borrow up to 10 items at a time from
the Academy collection (books, pamphlets, etc.).
Free of charge.
Training
Training on the use of library resources through the Academy Library's Medical
Information Classes and the Coordinator of Education & Outreach. If you would
like to learn to search for items in the health sciences literature, a special workshop
can be developed for you and your staff.

Web Development
The Outreach Project offers up to 5 mgs of space on the Academy’s server for
your organization’s web pages, and provide routine updating and maintenance of web
pages (upon request). We will assist you in creating your own web page. If a
specific domain name is required, member organizations are responsible for any domain name
registration or transfer fees.

Academy Meeting Space
Member organizations are eligible for discounts on the use of
the Academy’s meeting and events facilities.
